N-Acetyl Cysteine

Inflammation is produced by poor diets, chronic disease, obesity esp. central adiposity (visceral fat) and a poor intake of phytochemicals and Omega-3 essential fatty acids. It is also a part of the ageing process due to many factors. Inflammation drives many diseases and in fact is the foundation problem of many disease states including cancer.

NAC increases a powerful antioxidant called Glutathione and this is your body’s own widely available antioxidant that mops up free-radicals and other Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) which are cell-damaging molecules caused by metabolism, infection or injury.

So NAC in fact simply helps to generate your own antioxidant supply by providing the raw material your body needs in the form of the sulphur-containing amino acid Cysteine. but there is growing evidence that NAC may work beyond the generation of Glutathione4.

NAC works in the following ways4:

  1. Decreases inflammatory cytokines
  2. Increases Growth Factors
  3. Increases Neurite (nerve projections) formation through compounds like BDNF (Brain-derived neurotrophic factor)
  4. Decreasing oxidative (inflammatory) stress to cells, tissues, organ systems, the brain and nerve cells
  5. Neurotransmitter modulation
  6. Supporting biotransformation pathways in particular the Phase-II pathway to neutralise a vast number of toxic compounds in the body produced by the body itself or through the environment.

These are all vital cellular, organ and neuroprotective effects. It is no wonder that NAC is showing great promise in psychiatric diseases and neurodegenerative disorders.

DHA – EPA – GLA

These anti-inflammatory components work synergistically with the DHA + Choline product above

This helps to balance the essential fatty acids by providing more EPA, some DHA and importantly GLA which is an Omega-6 compound with anti-inflammatory properties

Ensuring your cells have the right Omega-6 to Omega-3 ratio is vital to prevent an inflammatory overreaction to a threat.

Oestroclear is a multi-targeted approach to strong estrogens

Strong estrogens have an adverse effect in both men and women.

In women with Endometriosis, these potent estrogens can drive this endometriosis even further to cause significant pain and menstrual dysfunction.

In men, estrogen can cause adverse effects on the prostate, including the potential to cause DNA mutations and cancer, epigenetic changes, inflammation and hypertrophy (enlargement) of the prostate15.

Research galore has shown the benefit of cruciferous vegetable intake and this has an inverse effect with many common cancers. In other words, the more of these vegetables you consume that include Kale, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Broccoli Sprouts, Brussels Sprouts, there seems to be a protective effect on many cancers.

DIM has been shown in a multitude of research articles to help decrease the effect of strong estrogens by converting 17ß-Estradiol, a strong estrogen to weaker 2-hydroxyestradiol (2HE2) and 4-hydroxyestradiol (4HE2) forms of estrogen.

DIM decreases the production of a very powerful 16a-hydroxyestrone (16HE1) form of estrogen that has strong cell proliferative effects on tissues like the breast, prostate and endometrial tissue. This 16a-hydroxyestrone (16HE1) biotransformation product, is an irreversible form, and preventing or decreasing this powerful 16HE1 estrogen from being created through the action of DIM makes great sense. Science-based measures you can incorporate in your management of Endometriosis.

Estrogen affects both men and women. We know that estrogen over the lifetime of a woman is a cumulative risk for breast cancer. It also drives endometriosis in young women and prostate disease in men.

A good Multivitamin and Mineral Supplement: Filling in the Gaps

As I have made it known on this website, I find right-wing views on supplementation to be inane. The Western diet is riddled with inadequacies and to ask someone to eat a “balanced diet” in a world full of fast foods full of inadequacies and where over 60% of a population are overweight or obese and where over 95% don’t get anywhere near the intake of nutrient-rich, phytochemical-rich, and fiber-rich fruit or vegetables is obviously living in an alternative universe. This is dangerous stupidity.

This stupidity has resulted in an obesogenic society where people are nutrient-depleted and where these individuals are in the crosshairs of viruses like COVID-19.

This idiotic idea that a pharmaceutical can fix lifelong diet-lifestyle related diseases is an absolute nonsense that will undoubtedly kill the doubters who think a magic-bullet will fix a lifetime of sloth and dietary neglect.

Rigid statements are of no use to anyone in the real world.

Of growing concern now is the Triage Mechanism of nutrient insufficiency as mentioned above that may lead to a weakening of the body and impaired DNA repair processes, putting an individual at risk of cancer10. This triage mechanism is essentially robbing Peter to pay Paul, i.e. a shuffling of micronutrients from non-vital to vital organs enabling an individual to survive longer but in a weakened state.

For you, taking an excellent practitioner-only multivitamin every 2nd day will ‘fill in the gaps’ as stated by Harvard University and will help to ensure all your cellular biochemical and molecular systems function optimally. If your cells don’t function well, your tissues and organ systems become dysfunctional.

Intermittent Fasting or Intraday Fasting

As Australia’s Professor David Sinclair who holds a chair at the University of NSW Australia and Harvard University, states in his amazing book Lifespan17 – the only way to live a long and health life is to “eat less” . However eating less to live longer means you should not suffer from malnutrition in the process.

It is a fine-line between healthy fasting and suffering from malnutrition and this needs to be guided by a highly qualified Dietitian the kind this website can supply. Intermittent fasting is a well established and rigorously tested scientific principle that decreases a multitude of negative metabolic effects. But to practice intermittent fasting without damage, you need to ensure you get enough amino acids (protein) and all the vitamins, minerals, trace elements and essential fatty acids your body needs to be in an optimal cellular and metabolic state.

Heart Health and Blood Circulation

L-Citrulline: Effectively boosting Nitric Oxide (NO) to dilate blood vessels

The amazing L-Citrulline molecule provides far more L-Arginine than taking L-Arginine itself. Why? It is all about how these amino acids are absorbed and metabolised. L-Arginine is avidly taken up by the liver where the majority is converted to urea and ornithine leaving precious little for Nitric Oxide (NO) production.

L-Citrulline on the other hand is absorbed and taken to the kidneys where it is converted to L-Arginine and delivered directly into the blood stream thus by-passing the first-pass liver metabolism leading to much higher levels of L-Arginine systemically. This enables Nitric Oxide (NO) to be produced at optimal levels for blood vessel dilation and increased blood flow.

Erectile Dysfunction (ED) often accompanies diabetes or those suffering from cardiovascular disease. L-Citrulline is a great adjunctive management strategy for ED and in particular to use L-Citrulline if you are taking Viagra® or Cialis®. The sad part of this story is that the vast majority of doctors and specialists do not realise that for PDE5 Inhibitors to work they require Nitric Oxide which the PDE5 inhibitors don’t produce. Without Nitric Oxide these medications function poorly and can often fail.

Vitamin-K2 and the diversion of calcium away from the damaged penile area

The damaged penile area can be infiltrated with calcium as this seems to be nature’s way of helping to either dampen down the inflammatory process or to stabilise the plaque. However, as is the case of many processes in the body, this healing process may be taken to a point not intended by nature and this is most likely due to the poor levels of Vitamin-K2 in most individuals consuming the Western diet.

In humans, the consumption of Vitamin-K1 in dark green leafy vegetables is converted by organisms in the gut microbiome to Vitamin-K2 but with a markedly decreased intake of vegetables and hence Vitamin-K1 the Vitamin-K2 is going to be very low and without Vitamin-K2 the ‘Calcium Cop’ that directs calcium away from soft tissues to bones then we are going run into abnormal calcification in damaged tissue.

Armed with the information above, it doesn’t take a genius to work out if around 95% of Western populations don’t get anywhere near the 5 servings of vegetables and 2 servings of fruit that Vitamin-K2 levels are going to be severely affected.
